A.K. Wells Community Center is a
not-for-profit,
charitable organization founded to
ensure affordable, quality programs
and services for the development
of our children. AKW believes that a
warm and nurturing environment is
critical to the social, emotional,
physicaland intellectual needs of
children.
We encourage involvement from parents, staff and volunteers to assist in
meeting each child’s need through recreation, relationships, and individual
attention.AKW provides a comprehensive child care program geared toward
families in the Auburn-Greshman, Englewood and surrounding communities for
children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. We seek to support the social and
emotional growth and development of children and their families by providing
positive learning experiences.
While early stages of service offerings are focused on our youth of low-income
families, program growth includes adult literacy in areas of job training and
education, character building and job placement by teaching individuals
professional standards to support entrance into the workforce, performing arts to
enhance cultural awareness, and a food pantry to provide nutritional assistance
to individuals and families who demonstrate inability to afford healthy food
choices.
