Thank you for choosing our website. A.K. Wells Community Center, Inc. was founded in 2005 by Cynthia C. Wells (picture below) in memory of her two children, the late Akin Ola Ige born August 15, 1986, killed in 2004 in a car accident while on his way to work and Katherine Elaine Ige, stillborn June 28, 1985. Wells has worked in the child care industry for over 30 years. As a parent, she depended on child care resources while working to support the needs of her child. As the cost of child care increased and the need increased even more, Wells had a vision to provide adequate and affordable services to those with limited means. Experiencing the struggles of the rising costs of child care led to Wells’ passion to bring this vision to reality. Wells followed her dream and established A.K. Wells Community Center, Inc., designed to give children and their parents hope in knowing that limited means will not prevent support of their dreams. Services provided by A.K. Wells include child care, job readiness training, character building and job placement to support entrance into the workforce, performing arts to enhance cultural awareness, and nutrition assistance. Wells’ motto that “you plant the dream, we nurture it, God increases it” is the foundation for which this organization was established. Her hand designed logo signifies that many dreams can be watered from the Well. There are many creative ideas and talents dwelling in the minds of our children and adults. Ms. Wells (Founder and Executive Director) is destined to provide a means to plant these dreams through programs and services that benefit all.
